This guide covers every airline, the MetroLink options, when rail makes sense versus car service, and flat-rate pricing for Clayton, Chesterfield, the Arch district, and all St. Louis metro destinations.

STL has MetroLink light rail — but it doesn't serve the suburbs
STL Lambert is one of the few U.S. airports with direct light rail service. The MetroLink Red Line connects Terminal 1 to downtown St. Louis in 38 minutes for $2.50 (or free with airline ticket). However, MetroLink does not serve Clayton, Chesterfield, West County, Creve Coeur, Ballwin, or most suburban corporate campuses. If your destination is off the MetroLink corridor, car service is the practical choice.
STL has two passenger terminals connected post-security. Unlike many two-terminal airports, passengers cleared through security can walk between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 via the secure concourse connector. This makes STL more convenient for groups or colleagues on different carriers arriving at different concourses.

Post-security connection between T1 and T2
Unlike airports where terminals are completely separate, STL Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are connected via a post-security corridor on Concourse C/F. Passengers can walk between terminals without re-clearing security. This is convenient if you and a colleague are on different airlines (e.g., American in T1 and Delta in T2) and want to meet before ground transportation.
MetroLink is St. Louis's light rail system. Two stations serve STL airport: Lambert Main Terminal (Terminal 1) and Lambert East Terminal (closer to Terminal 2). The Red Line runs east toward downtown St. Louis, crossing into Illinois and serving East St. Louis. The Blue Line branches from Forest Park toward Clayton and Shrewsbury.
