LEGOLAND Florida Resort sits in Winter Haven, in Polk County, about 52 road miles southwest of Orlando International Airport. There is no airport shuttle listed by the park and no rail line to Winter Haven, so most families arrive by car. Detailed Drivers runs the trip as a private chauffeured transfer, engine-priced all-in, from MCO, Tampa or any Orlando hotel.
This route sits under our Orlando car service hub. Most LEGOLAND trips start with an MCO airport car service pickup, and first-time visitors to the airport can read the MCO terminal guide to see where Terminals A, B and C sit before they land. The resort itself is run by LEGOLAND; check hours, tickets and hotel details on the official LEGOLAND Florida Resort site.
Every price below comes from the same rate engine that runs our booking widget, applied to routed road miles from each pickup to LEGOLAND Florida Resort. One number per vehicle, door to door, with gratuity, tax and card processing inside it. Tolls are confirmed at booking.
| Route | Business Sedan | First Class SUV | Sprinter Van | Distance · timing |

| MCO (Terminal A, B or C) → LEGOLAND Florida Resort | $410 | $510 | $990 | 52 mi · 75-100 min · SR 417, I-4 west, US 27 south |
| Tampa International (TPA) → LEGOLAND Florida Resort | $460 | $570 | $1,060 | 60 mi · 80-110 min · I-275, I-4 east, Polk Parkway |

All-in estimates: gratuity, tax & card processing included, rounded to the nearest $10. Drive times run from free-flowing traffic to a typical busy day; holiday weekends can run longer. As-directed time runs $120/hr Business Sedan, $150/hr First Class SUV and $240/hr Sprinter Van, with a 3-hour minimum.
The return leg prices the same in reverse. LEGOLAND to MCO is $410 in a sedan and $510 in an SUV, so a family flying in and out of Orlando can price the ground transfers for the whole trip before leaving home. If you split the trip, say MCO in and Tampa out, the engine simply prices each leg on its own miles.
For a family of four with two checked bags each, a car seat bag and a stroller, the First Class SUV is the right call. A sedan can work for a couple with one child traveling light; anything more and the trunk fills before the stroller is in.
People search for a "LEGOLAND airport shuttle" because the resort is far from the airport. Here is what the realistic options look like for a family landing at MCO.
| Option | How it works from MCO | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Detailed Drivers private chauffeur | $510 SUV all-in, meet inside the terminal, flight tracked, direct to your LEGOLAND hotel lobby. Price does not change with demand. | Families with luggage, strollers and tired kids; groups up to 14. |
| Uber / Lyft | Pickup at the airport rideshare area, price set by demand at request time, vehicle size and luggage room vary, and drivers can decline a long trip out of the metro. | Light travelers with flexible timing. |
| Taxi | Metered from the taxi stand, and a 52-mile run across county lines adds up on the meter. Standard sedans and minivans; child seats are not guaranteed. | Travelers who want a cab with no booking. |
| LEGOLAND Express shuttle / public transit or rail | The park's own shuttle runs on select dates from ICON Park and Disney Springs only, at set morning times with one return after close. SunRail commuter rail does not reach Winter Haven, and there is no direct transit link from MCO. | Visitors already staying on I-Drive or near Disney Springs, on a date the shuttle runs. |
| Rental car / driving yourself | Rental counter time after the flight, car seats to rent or carry, about 75 to 100 minutes on I-4 in an unfamiliar car, and a daily parking fee at the park for day visitors. | Families planning a multi-stop road trip around Florida. |
The official LEGOLAND Express shuttle page lists the current pickup points and dates. It is a good fit for a day trip from an I-Drive hotel. It is not an airport transfer, and it does not help a family landing with three suitcases at Terminal C.
Two parents, two kids, four checked bags and a stroller. A First Class SUV from MCO is $510 all-in and drops everyone at the hotel lobby, with time to check in before dinner.
Drop at LEGOLAND in the morning and pick up at close: two Business Sedan transfers from the Disney Springs area at $330 each. An 8-hour as-directed day in a sedan is $950 if you want the car on standby.
One Sprinter Van from MCO is $990 all-in, with room for 12 bags. Everyone arrives together instead of coordinating three rideshares at the curb.
TPA to LEGOLAND is $570 in an SUV; LEGOLAND to MCO at the end is $510. Each leg is priced on its own miles, booked in one reservation.
The answer depends on whether you mean distance or flights. Measured by road, three airports matter:
| Airport | Road miles to LEGOLAND | Business Sedan | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lakeland Linder (LAL) | 23 mi | $250 | Closest by far, but scheduled airline service is limited. Useful for private aviation. |
| Orlando International (MCO) | 52 mi | $410 | The most flights and nonstops, and the natural choice when Disney or Universal is part of the trip. |
| Tampa International (TPA) | 60 mi | $460 | A few miles farther. Worth it when fares are better or the trip includes Gulf Coast beaches. |
For most families, MCO is the practical answer. Winter Haven sits roughly between Orlando and Tampa, which is why the two big airports land within a few miles of each other on distance. The tiebreaker is usually the rest of the itinerary. If you are spending four days at Walt Disney World and two at LEGOLAND, fly into Orlando. If LEGOLAND is a stop on the way to Clearwater Beach or St. Pete, Tampa makes sense, and our Orlando to Tampa transportation page covers the drive across the I-4 corridor.
Before you book flights, check the Orlando International Airport site for terminal information. MCO has three passenger terminals: A and B share the main building, and Terminal C handles many international arrivals. Your chauffeur meets you inside the terminal your flight uses.
At MCO, the chauffeur waits inside the terminal at the baggage claim for your flight, holding a sign with your name, and confirms by text before you land. At Tampa International, the meeting point is the baggage claim level of the main terminal. At Lakeland Linder, we meet at the terminal or the FBO, depending on how you arrive. In every case, we track the flight, so an early landing or a delay simply moves the meeting time.
Families get the most out of the meet-and-greet. Kids are tired after a flight, the luggage carousel takes as long as it takes, and the last thing anyone wants is a walk to a rental counter or a rideshare lot. The chauffeur helps with bags, loads the stroller and car seat bag, and has the car at the curb as you come out. The drive starts as soon as everyone is buckled in.
From MCO, the route heads west on SR 417 and joins I-4 westbound near Celebration. That stretch of I-4 passes the Disney and Championsgate exits and is where most of the traffic variation happens. At the US 27 interchange near Davenport, the car turns south through Haines City toward Winter Haven, then west on Cypress Gardens Boulevard (SR 540) to the resort entrance on One LEGOLAND Way. The last half hour is two-lane and four-lane state road through orange groves and lakes, a calmer drive than the interstate. From Tampa, the route runs east on I-4 to the Polk Parkway (SR 570) around Lakeland and then southeast on SR 540.
Many Orlando visitors add one LEGOLAND day to a Disney or Universal week. The resort is about 37 road miles from the Disney Springs area and 44 from the Universal hotels, so it works as a day trip if you leave early. There are two ways to book it, and the one that costs less depends on how you spend the day. If your itinerary includes a vacation-home stay, the MCO to Kissimmee car service page covers that airport leg.
Our honest advice: if you plan to be inside LEGOLAND from opening until close, book two transfers. The car would otherwise sit in the parking lot all day, and you would pay for those hours. Book the as-directed day when you want the car between stops, for example LEGOLAND in the morning, lunch in Winter Haven, and a late afternoon at a Disney Springs restaurant on the way back. Our hourly car service Orlando page explains how as-directed time is billed.
Check the day's hours before you set a pickup time. LEGOLAND Florida, the Water Park and Peppa Pig Theme Park each keep their own operating hours, and the smaller parks often close earlier than the main theme park. A pickup 30 minutes after the main park closes gives kids time for the last ride and the gift shop. If a thunderstorm closes outdoor rides early, text the chauffeur and the pickup moves up.
Larger groups often find the Sprinter Van the simplest answer for the day trip. Twelve people in one vehicle means one pickup, one drop and one conversation about timing. If you are planning several group days around Orlando, our Sprinter van rental Orlando page covers seating, luggage and multi-day bookings.
LEGOLAND Florida is built around young children, and the trip there should be planned around them too. A few things make the arrival easier.
Good to know before you book
The resort is more than one park. Alongside the main LEGOLAND theme park, the official site lists the LEGOLAND Water Park, Peppa Pig Theme Park Florida and SEA LIFE Florida Aquarium, plus three places to stay: the LEGOLAND Hotel, the Pirate Island Hotel and the seasonal LEGOLAND Beach Retreat. Tell us which hotel you booked and the chauffeur drops you at its lobby rather than the day-guest entrance.
The site has history too. LEGOLAND Florida was built on the grounds of Cypress Gardens, the Winter Haven botanical garden that opened in 1936, and the park still maintains the gardens on the shore of Lake Eloise. Grandparents who visited Cypress Gardens decades ago often want to walk them again, and it is an easy, shaded break between rides.
If your family is spending most of the week in Orlando, the MCO transportation guide covers airport-to-Disney and airport-to-Universal transfers in the same detail. You can compare vehicles on the fleet page and see hourly and point-to-point pricing across every market on our rates page.
Vehicles assign in booking order, and family travel to Central Florida bunches around school calendars. A rough guide:
The busiest family weeks of the year at MCO. Book 30 days or more ahead, especially for SUVs and Sprinter Vans, and book the return at the same time.
Steady family demand plus afternoon storms. Book two to three weeks ahead and choose morning flights when you can.
Holiday travel peaks at both MCO and TPA. Book 30 days or more ahead and allow extra time on I-4 on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the days after Christmas.
The calm lane. Forty-eight hours of notice is usually enough, and same-day requests often clear, subject to vehicle availability.
You can reserve the LEGOLAND transfer online or call (888) 420-0177 at any hour. Corporate accounts and repeat family bookings can be kept on file for the next trip.
Pricing, the closest airport, the LEGOLAND shuttle, drive times, child seats and day trips from Disney.
A private one-way transfer from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to LEGOLAND Florida Resort in Winter Haven is $410 all-in in a Business Sedan, $510 in a First Class SUV, and $990 in a Sprinter Van for up to 14 people. Those numbers come from our rate engine applied to the 52 road miles between the airport and the resort, with gratuity, tax and card processing already included. Tolls on SR 417 are confirmed at booking. The price does not move with demand, so a Saturday arrival during spring break costs the same as a quiet Tuesday in September.
By road, Lakeland Linder International Airport (LAL) is closest at about 23 miles, but it has limited scheduled airline service, so most families do not fly there. Of the two big airports, Orlando International (MCO) is about 52 road miles from the resort and Tampa International (TPA) about 60. MCO usually wins on flight choice, especially for families pairing LEGOLAND with Walt Disney World or Universal. TPA can make sense when a Gulf Coast beach stay is part of the trip. We pick up at all three.
LEGOLAND Florida runs the LEGOLAND Express shuttle on select dates from two Orlando pickup points, ICON Park on International Drive and Disney Springs, with a morning departure and a return after park close. The official shuttle page lists those two stops only and does not list an airport pickup, so travelers landing at MCO need another way to reach Winter Haven. A private car meets you inside the terminal, loads the luggage and drives straight to the resort or your hotel lobby, on your flight's schedule rather than a fixed departure.
Plan on 75 to 100 minutes for the 52-mile drive. The route leaves MCO on SR 417, joins I-4 westbound past the Disney exits, then turns south on US 27 and west onto Cypress Gardens Boulevard (SR 540) into Winter Haven. Free-flowing traffic gets close to the low end. The I-4 stretch between Celebration and the US 27 interchange is the variable: weekday rush hours, holiday weekends and wrecks can add 20 to 30 minutes. Your chauffeur watches live traffic and adjusts the departure time if needed.
Two ways work well. The simplest is two one-way transfers: a morning drop at LEGOLAND and a pickup at park close, about $330 each way in a Business Sedan or $410 each way in a First Class SUV for the 37-mile run from the Disney Springs area. The other is an as-directed day, where the chauffeur and vehicle stay with you: an 8-hour day is $950 in a sedan and $1,160 in an SUV. Two transfers cost less if you will spend the whole day inside the parks. The hourly day earns its keep when you want stops on the way, a late lunch outside the resort, or a flexible return time.
Request child seats when you book and tell us each child's age and weight. We confirm availability in writing before the trip. If we cannot confirm a seat for your date, we will say so in advance so you can bring your own, and the chauffeur will help install it. Strollers, travel cribs and a week of family luggage fit easily in a First Class SUV or Sprinter Van; a Business Sedan is best kept for two adults and one child with light bags.
The First Class SUV (Cadillac Escalade ESV, GMC Yukon Denali or Lincoln Navigator L class) seats 6 with room for 6 large bags, which covers most families of four or five arriving with checked luggage and a stroller. The Business Sedan carries 3 passengers and 3 bags. Two families traveling together, or grandparents joining the trip, usually fit in one Sprinter Van: 14 passengers and 12 bags for $990 all-in from MCO. A Mercedes S-Class is available in select markets on request.
We track the flight and move the pickup to the real landing time at no extra charge within normal delay windows. Afternoon thunderstorms in Orlando often hold arrivals, and international flights into Terminal C can take a while to clear border control. The chauffeur waits inside the terminal with a name sign and only starts the clock that matters to you, the walk to the car. If a long delay pushes you past check-in at the LEGOLAND Hotel or Pirate Island Hotel, the drive simply happens later; there is nothing to rebook.
Yes, and we recommend it. Book the outbound and the return in one reservation and both are confirmed together. LEGOLAND to MCO costs the same as MCO to LEGOLAND: $410 sedan, $510 SUV, all-in. For a departure flight, plan to leave Winter Haven roughly three and a half to four hours before a domestic departure from MCO, which covers the drive, bag drop and security with a margin for I-4 traffic.
Yes. Many families split a trip between Orlando and the Gulf Coast. LEGOLAND to Tampa International is about 60 road miles ($460 sedan, $570 SUV, all-in), and LEGOLAND back to a Disney-area hotel is about 37 miles. If your trip continues to Tampa Bay itself, our Orlando to Tampa page covers that corridor in detail.
